Aimee Watson is a painter and installation artist whose work moves between the intimate and the elemental — She creates dream-like scenes that embody and reflect her inner self, materialising what her soul looks like and what it desires to see through her intuitive creative process. Light is a central element in her practice.

Her paintings and installations are often intended to be altered by their environment, where shifting light conditions create an ethereal presence and whimsical feel through the interplay and collaboration of colour and illumination. The essence of her work draws from her more youthful outlook, unburdened by darkness or overly constrictive detail.

The spiritual undertones of her practice reflect a personal exploration of faith, beyond the constraints of doctrine and situated within a secular context.

"I paint as a way of listening inward, yet by employing my materials in this reflective way I am then lead beyond myself, urged to draw out the parts of my essence that desire to be illustrated."
